Looking for Sears 40 ' Snow Blower Manual MD# 842.240711 I amlooking for a manual or some way Craftsman 6.5 Hp Lawn mowerengine wont start.Since there are many components to checking and changing lawn moweroil, we WARNING: Always read the engine and equipment manual(s)before starting, I have a Craftsman riding mower with B&S Intek Plus 20HP. This article is designed to help you find the best manual lawn edger for your yard. We have listed six of the best manual edgers for you to consider below. While there are different types of manual edgers featured below, they all do a very effective job at creating a beautiful edge.

The two do not mix well in the fall. In the past we routinely would spend 4-6 hours a weekend raking, blowing, and bagging all the leaves and acorns. It was a huge, tiring job. With this DR vacuum I am able to do the entire lawn in just over 2 hours. It is a substantial investment, but after two different days of using it I am very happy to give a strong recommendation for this product. There were some frustrations with the shipping process and the time it took (toward the longer side of the projected delivery) and there was a part missing in the shipment. This was rectified speedily.

Assembly was quite clear, although I do think the directions could be more specific. For example they do not include the oil capacity. If they told you it was 20 oz., that would have been easier than having to 'eyeball' it. Be sure to have the vacuum nozzle securely tightened down.

If that is loose, it could be jarred out of place and release the safety switch. I did not understand this initially so after 2 hours of running when the machine suddenly stopped and would not restart, I was perturbed. I eventually saw that the safety switch gap was open and the nozzle was out of place. The lip of the nozzle had caught a corner and I realized that I did not have the hand tightened wing nuts completely tightened down.

Be sure to wear a mask as it does get dusty behind the machine. I bought this unit expressly because the website, videos, and Q & A section all say it picks up acorns. I can't be clearer about this: IT DOES NOT. Well, maybe 3-5% of them, but for all intents and purposes it does not.

I ran over a BLANKET of acorns in my back yard (and no, it's not wet out and they're not embedded in the ground.just sitting on top of my quite level yard), with the snout at the lowest setting, and it got maybe ten of them. For dry leaves, it works as advertised. The chipper actually exceeded my expectations.

I've ordered the optional vacuum hose. I'm sincerely hoping it is better at acorn suction than the unit as it is.

If so, I'll amend my review accordingly. Response from DR SupportThank you for contacting us. We're sorry to hear the Walk-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum did not work for your intended purpose. The lower position is best for nuts, acorns, gum balls and wet leaves. The higher position is best for thick dry leaves. If the acorns and nuts are not embedded in the grass, the vacuum should suck them up and the steel impeller will pulverize them. It may take multiple passes to pick them all up.

Another helpful tip is to be sure the engine is at full throttle, ensuring the best suction. We do hope the Vacuum hose helps!

This will allow you to get an even closer, more direct suction. Well made unit, durable, stout hardware.

The front wheels are a little light and the unit tips back, raising the front wheels when the debris bag is full. A little extra ballast or weight in the front would help counteract that, but not a real problem to raise issue with. The tip-back actually helps detach the debris bag when full. Great suction for leaves and twigs, just the right amount so as to not pick up small rocks in the driveways and landscaping. Assembly and start-up was easy. The resulting mulch in the bag was mixed into other green waste and helped our composting. And a great time saver versus using blowers, trash barrels, dust pans, brooms, etc.

Maneuvers well around the yards, driveways, walkways. Self contained and very efficient unit. It will get a lot of use. Bought the 11.5 hp manual start DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. They made it, shipped it and the same day it arrived I put it together. No problems, nothing missing, instructions & pictures fine, no issues. Added gas & oil, set the level, gave her a sturdy pull (yes, you are moving some power here) and she is off & running.

Its October here and the leaves are falling and the grass still growing/needs mowing & raking so it got a good first day test. I have a small.

Some things to watch out for. The bolt holding the vac impeller is threaded in such a was as during rotation the bolt backs out making the impeller thrash against the housing, most annoying and I am sure unsafe. The threads should have been in the opposite direction so it tightens during use.

That is engineering 101. The throttle cable is ineffective in that the lever on the engine is so hard to move, the cable can not overcome the resistance. The catcher bag is difficult to unzip as the zipper is too fine and delicate for the rough environment. Better than raking. I had high hopes for this product. The equipment arrive damaged and needed a new front wheel and front bracket. The box was a wreck.

DR promptly sent replacement parts. Vacuuming dense live oak leaves doesn't do much shredding and their lack of loft makes them difficult to vacuum. Less dense leaves such as sycamore probably work well. The weight of a 75% full bag of live oak leaves or St. Augustine grass clippings causes the handle to dip and the front wheels to leave the ground. The chipper works great. Received my DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum in a timely manner.

The assembly instructions was easy to follow, as was assembly. Used it for the first time with two days of assembly. I purchased the manual model, but would recommend the electric start model, as the 'pull' because of the engine compression could be somewhat strenuous for a weaker person. Works great on picking up newly cut grass, once you adjust to the right height. Certainly saves my lower back with not having to rack up the grass and place it into a wheel barrel and make several trips to dump it.

I recently purchased two composters to place the grass and leaves in for composting. I have a very large yard to mow (about 1 1/2 hours worth). I would definitely recommend this product. I purchased the leaf vacuum about a month ago.

Have a big place so lots of leaves to suck up. Took a while to assembly because instruction are bad copies and difficult to determine where the arrows are pointing. In this day and age a color instruction book would be a big plus and on line instructions would also help. Also ordered the vacuum hose that broke upon assembly but DR was quick to replace parts required. It does a good job at picking up leaves but at times I must go over the heavy areas twice, understandable. Unloading the bag is a pain and I found the best way was to empty onto a trap and then drag to the compost pile.

One thing I must check on is DR recommends that the bag be hand washed, I would like to know how they propose this to be done. All in all saves time and most important saves on effort.

I would recommend to a friend. Response from DR SupportThank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your new DR Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum.

The machine does come equipped with height adjustment control that allows you to better control the amount of suction. Gum balls, nuts, etc should be picked up unless they are somewhat embedded in the ground and in this situation you may find that the machine does not pick them up as well. We are always happy to assist you over the phone with any operational concerns or questions. As you already indicated; getting familiar with your new DR and learning how to operate it takes time. And our hope is that you're pleased with your purchase and happy the machine's performance.

Give us a call any time. We certainly thank you for choosing DR Power and appreciate your business!

I purchased my yard vac two years ago and it's still running great, but I hope the folks at DR will consider an improvement to it. For me personally, I don't use the chipper part of this vac, so that could be eliminated. The improvement I would suggest is to put some kind of rotating sweeper or flexible tines on the front of the snout to churn up acorn and twigs.

This year was a bumper crop for my two oak trees, so I'm working on picking them up before the leaves drop. The vacuum on this machine is so good, that the acorns and twigs can sometimes get caught in the grass and not picked up (the grass wraps around them and holds them in place). I find myself having to run over the same ground forward and backwards several times to get everything and even then it doesn't always get the more deeply embedded acorns. Overall, I'm still pleased with this machine, but I'm downgrading my rating slightly for the reason stated above. I would be willing to be a tester and would be happy to buy an improved version (or after factory add-on) of the snout.

I have a large area of lawn, concrete, gravel driveway with large trees over most of it. This vac works quite acceptably over all with a simple heigth adjustment. The model I have is the pull start, with gas treatment after two years it still starts fast ( but takes a big body to pull the jerk rope i think). I dump leaves on the ground im my humis pile, the leaves stay put in strong winds after running through the vac.

To have a bag that never needs emptying is akin to having an animal that never eats! I think the bag will need to be replaced eventually. At first you tend to man handle the thing, but really after a while its pretty user friendly! I think DR built a machine that had to cover a lot or parimeters(self propelled, desent handling, and desighing a bagger that works and a shredder too) was done well. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars.

I was going to wait to write this review until Fall but I had such a good experience this past week I decided to post it now. I'm a local and have always heard good things about DR. My leaf blower from another company died last year and I returned to raking leaves onto a tarp and dragging them over the bank. I only managed to clear about 2/3 of my lawn before winter.

I heard about the DR Leaf Vacuum and decided to purchase one. I was concerned the the leaves in my backyard were too compressed and wet to pick up. In 3 hours I had the back yard vacuumed up and gave the rest of the lawn a quick brush up too. Because the leaves were compress and some were wet I had to go over some areas 2 or 3 times, but it was much easier than raking or using a leaf blower. The bag when full can be a little challenging to handle. I wish there was a handle to grab on the bottom of the bag.

I found myself hugging it and wrestling with it a few times to empty leaves. I found the leaves to be mulched perfectly and will work well in my compost bins. Excellent product! While researching leaf vacuums I found DR to have the options that are important for my application. Not a stranger to factory refurbished products I aimed for saving $$ while receiving a full warranty.

Upon receiving the leaf vacuum I went right at it. I followed the directions for the initial operation.

While inspecting as much as I could there was a few surprising conditions I would not expect from a factory refurbished product. Turns out the pulley tension arm was not aligned allowing the belt to track off the side. I removed and bent the metal bar back to alignment. Replaced the frayed belt. The front wheel height adjustment does not hit all location indexes.

I did make alterations to have a fully functional height adjustment range. Other notable finding was quite a bit of debris in the bag. It could have been emptied out. That would be a nice 'refurbished' touch. In conclusion my rating was a generous 3 for the received condition. It felt it was just rushed through, 'get it out the door'.

As far as performance and design I give 4 stars. The battery tray prevents a smooth rolling down steps by dragging steel past wheel clearance.

Now it is being used as designed and performing well. Response from DR SupportThank you for your feedback on the DR Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. We take a lot of pride in how we refurbish our machines prior to sending them out and appreciate your comments. This information has been passed along to our service manager. Additionally, someone from our Tech Support Department is going to give you a call to make sure the machine is in good working order and that you are happy with it. We appreciate that you chose DR Power and thank you for your business!

I received the vacuum and put it to work the next day. It works as advertised. The critical reviews I read about the bag are over-stated. It is not that big a problem to empty. Since it is a bit slow I recommend that you mow your leaves to the middle of your yard so that it only takes 2 or 3 passes to pick them up. I HIGHLY recommend the electric start and self - propelled options.

Great job on this product. I also own a trimmer and a tiller I purchased from you and am VERY satisfied with these products also. Keep up the good work. The vacuum is my second DR product. I have owned a power wagon for ten years and could not live without it.

I am using my vacuum for the second year. I am very satisfied with the machine, but have some of the same concerns that have been expressed by other reviewers.

I have a lot of Oak trees on a sloping lot and do not feel that it picks up acorns as well as I would like. Also the bag is very heavy and hard to handle when it is full.

This causes the machine to want to tilt to the back, lifting the nozzle off the ground. One suggestion I have is to place a swivel wheel under the back of the machine similar to the rear wheel on the power wagon to help support the weight of the bag when it is full. Overall this is a great product. Delivery of the product was much quicker than I had anticipated. I was impressed with the heavy duty construction of the machine and properly sized engine. Assembly was easy and the vacuum picks up very well.

I was hoping it would it would shred the leaves though more than it does and don't believe it accomplishes the stated six to one reduction in waste volume. Emptying the bag into a trash container is very cumbersome and required the construction of an lightweight intermediate container. I dump the leaves from the vacuum into the intermediate container without removing the bag from the machine and then dump the intermediate container contents into the regular trash container. I have had the leaf vac for 3 years now and I am satisfied with it. Heard a lot of reviews stating that would not pick up as shown.

I can say that my vac worked fine and it would even pick up wet matted leaves so I do not understand the previous reviews. I did not give five stars for a couple of reasons: 1) Center of gravity is such that bag will tip when it is full, makes emptying difficult. I have come up with a way to empty the bag quickly without bag removal or reaching in and pulling out leaves. I will leave it to your imagination on how I do it. 2) Electric start is weak, it has difficulty turning the heavy fly wheel. Find pull starting easier.

3) Machine was wrapping for a while and could not figure out why. Brought it in for a repair, and the problem turned out to be a loose fly wheel. Re-torqued the bolt and it has been running fine ever since.

I am a satisfied customer, and as leaf vacs go, it is the best out there. Response from DR SupportThank you for posting a review. We apologize for the issue you had. We’re glad you are enjoying it! I bought a new leaf vacuum last year.

Unfortunantly, it rained so much I didn't get to use it until this year.Well after my 6 month trial ended. I, like another reviewer, had to go over the same area 3 times and I still had leaves. It works going in reverse better than forward but it gave poor results no matter the direction. For the price I paid for this.well, the results are not worth the money.

If I had to do it over I would not buy this machine but I am stuck with it because I could not use it within the 6 month trial period! Eastern Time (UTC-5). Thanks again for leaving a review. We will pass your comments to our Product Development department for review. We recently purchase a home east of Tampa. I was a bit hesitant about the purchase due to some of the slightly negative reviews. However, after using it a bit I am very glad that I continued with the purchase. Our prior home in north Alabama required me to hand rake between 200-250 of the 50 gallon industrial bags each year.

Some notes on this: When I picked up the pallet, the cardboard box had been pretty much crushed. This I saw as a freight company issue in no way connected to DR. The assembly of the unit took about 30 to 45 minutes which included removing it from my SUV. The one thing that puzzled me a bit was the two 'red keys' as I did not see any reference to what these were for. The new house in the Tampa area has 8 - 10 large (sawtooth?) oak trees and the yard is heavy St. Augustine grass.

I had thought (for what ever reason) the yard was in OK shape, but after running the leaf vac across the yard once and ending up with about a dozen bags of leaves I could tell it was really needed. In this area, professional yard services are not allowed to collect leaves, but the home owner is allowed to do so. I have used the standard header and the optional hose extension. I will operate the vacuum until at such point the bag seems a bit heavy and then dump the collection on the drive to be scooped into bags. The only issue (minor) I had was when using the hose for leaf collections in the planter beds the sandy soil would coat the interior of the bag reducing suction. This I could resolve by thumping the bag sides and top allowing the removal of the sand.

This machine did all that was expected like vacuum. When the bag get full it's will tilt font wheels up and get very heavy. It's should have clear windows indicate the bag was full.

I would empty the bag into two bags without taking it down used 40x48 bag. The company should invested in filter disposable bag like home vacuum. Response from Tech Support: Thanks for posting a review, we appreciate it!

We will pass your comments to our Product Development department for review. I purchased this unit with high hopes it would work as good as the product video shows on this site. This was not the case! The performance of this unit was terrible! I ran over the same area three times and still had leaves on the ground. I ran over the same area with my mower and it picked them up with no problem. The reason I said Buyer beware is you have to pay shipping both ways if you return it, which was a total of $618.99.

I think it is sad for this company to charge so much to return an inferior product!! It did not work as advertised on the product video!

We will pass your comments to our Product Development department for review. This machine works as described, a powerful vac with durable parts.

The point to remember is what is not shown. The branch chipper reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood, the sticks seem too small, too big, too soft, too crooked to chip easily. The vac hose could use some sort holder when moving to a different location- it is difficult to hang on to it and the handles at the same time. In the manual they tell you to be prepared to get dirty when emptying the bag - great info but not mentioned in the video. To empty the bag, I put a tarp under the bag, and empty contents onto the tarp, then drag the tarp to a pile. The vac is operational whenever the engine is running, so moving the unit under power means you will probably pick up some debris getting to where you want to start.

Overall, thou I had hoped to do more with this unit, it does all that is mentioned in the video, and does make a great starter for compost. I was immediately impressed with the overall construction and craftsmanship of this product. Every piece fit together as intended without the need to force-fit. Assembly was simple and straightforward. The engine runs smoothly and seems to develop plenty of suction to vacuum a yard with ease. One feature that could be improved might be that it does not perform well on unlevel surfaces.

The vacuum chute mounted to the front of the unit tends to gouge and dig in over rough spots. The fix for this is to raise the suction further from the surface, which reduces its ability to completely collect all of the yard debris.

Maybe I just need to make my yard more level. 'Ease of use' rated poor because of 2 points: 1 I have found it extremely hard to empty the bag by having to zip down-across under-up with the load forcing the bag to sit so low to the ground. Perhaps zipping across the top rather than the bottom??? 2 Rough terrain (like my yard) causes the vac nose too either ride over the material to be sucked up, OR, the nose digs into the ground. Perhaps a free floating vac head on wheels could solve this!?

The times I have used this vac/shredder it has done what I purchased it for and, excepting the above two points, I would give it 4 stars. Your comments will be passed along to our Product Development department for review. This is a very easy machine to operate, taking little effort on behalf of the operator. It is easy to start, very maneuverable and takes little effort to empty.

My lawn is heavily landscaped, making a tractor mounted or tow behind vacuum impractical. This is just the machine for me.

I find the vacuum hose to be an excellent feature as I have many spruce trees with low hanging branches that seem to catch bushels of leaves. Changing out the vacuum head for the hose is very simple. There are a few cautions. Always wear ear protection. In dry conditions, dust protection is highly recommended. Moving the machine with the hose attached is a little unwieldy. The restraining cable for the hose is too long so the hose will occasionally pull off the nub.

Be prepared to hose down the collection bag as fine particles will build up and decrease the vacuum effect. Like any machine, keep it clean and it will provide you with optimum service. Response from DR SupportThanks for leaving a review about your Leaf Vac. We are sorry to hear you are not fully satisfied with the purchase of it.

Thanks again for posting comments to our website. Your comments will be passed along to our Product Development department for review. Of course all DR machines carry a 6 month hands-on trial, so if you remain dissatified and you've owned your machine for less than 6 months, we can arrange to return it for a full refund, minus shipping.

Lots of trees, lots of hard to reach places. Nothing but this leaf vac with it's hose attachment would have done what I needed. Great product from its ease to assemble, to its ease to start, to its ease to use. The only reason quality got a 'good' was that I had to weld a support bracket for the chute outlet because the weight of the bag is partially supported by the chute and after one season the chute cracked at the bend. Called the number, explained the problem, he thanked me for the info and the solution, and sent me another $200 chute assembly for free.

Great company too. I bought this unit to pick up oak leaves, acorns, and small oak twigs. It will only pick up the leaves, so I still have to rake up everything else. It's extremely heavy and hard to maneuver.

Shifting gears is a nightmare. You're not supposed to take the bag off to empty it, but it's really the only efficient way to do that chore. Unfortunately, it's extremely hard to unhook the bag. I guess that's why they tell you to leave it on the machine. I was surprised at the examples of poor quality for a DR product. The bale wouldn't stay in place until I bent it to fit, the decal for the shifter wore off from use after about a week, and it was missing a couple of nuts upon assembly. For what it does and how it does it it's way overpriced at $1600.

Very disappointed. Response from DR SupportWe appreciate you leaving a review, especially a negative one! We like to know how the products we sell are performing out in the field. We will try to contact you concerning the issue you are having, but feel free to contact our Tech Support department toll free at 1-800-687-6575.

The Tech Department is open 6 days a week. Our Call Center is staffed Monday thru Friday 8 AM to 6PM and Saturdays 8:30 AM to 5 PM, EST. This may be something that can be quickly diagnosed and repaired under warranty. The lawn vacuum was not hard to assemble.

I had high hopes this Spring that the lawn vacuum would scoop up pine needles and pine cones that fell last fall but that was not the case. One technical problem is the collection bag had a hole burned into it where the vacuum shot the vacuumed materials into the bag. Seems becasue I keep the scoop low to the ground it picked up some dirt that got heated while being vacuumed up and I guess it was too hot for the bag material and melted a hole after about 20 hours of use.

Also the front scoop has 4 winged nuts to hold it in place that are locatred at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees looking at the front of the scoop. The location of the nuts made ti hard to install, you would have to get on the ground to actually see where to screw on the 180 degree nut, if they rotated the pattern 45 degress it would be alot simpler. Lastly the transmission slipped some times so N still had the vaccuum running in 1st gear. Response from DR SupportThank you for posting a review to our website.

Thanks again for posting comments to our website. Your comments will be passed along to our Product Development department for review. We have had this since last season.

Works EXACTLY as expected, actually sucks it all up. And with ease. Highly recommend Elec start and the Self Propelled is awesome.

My wife can also run it with ease, even up and down the hills. It is a joy to now go out and do yard clean up and leaf raking. So nice to run. Get a good set of Radio Head phones (.) and listen to football or other favorite show/music while cleaning up the yard. Really is a joy. Suggestion: It ALMOST gets up the Nuts, gets the ones on top.

Would be cool to have a 'Nut Rake' small rake on front of snot to pull up stuff from grass that be adjusted down. Then would get up all the nuts as well. Now gets up about 30% of the nuts, if you rake them up, then gets about 80%+. Awesome job on the leaves.

Mulches them up so nice we don't haul away simply use the nicely mulched up leaves as Mulch in woods area. In my woods (about.5acre) I simply open the back of bag and go back and forth thru the woods to mulch up all the leaves in the woods, looks fantastic and works like a charm. A MUST ADD ON! (.) - this adds a real dip stick and is a snap to install. Now you can check the oil with no mess and easy to do.

So you are sure to check it often. This should be added by DR!!! Especially for the price. But easy to buy and add yourself.

I also recommend the Hour Meter and the Hose to get into bushes. Now it is a snap to trim the bushes since clean-up is so easy. I do it more often and don't wait until the bushes are out of control and scary. Very well built from top to bottom and easy to maintain. It is built to last and parts if needed are easy to get and replace. ONE beef I have is that DR still does not have Parts or Maint kit for this model on website! - they have the 3yr old obsolete model but not this one???

Just lazy web guys. But the Machine is well built and the company is great to work with. I purchased from local farm equip dealer so could have the local support if needed. If you like a nice clean yard - this machine is a MUST! And you will not be disappointed.

Only negative is the collection Bag. I think they could give this more thought. But is hard to deal with and for sure the weak link on this thing. A pain to empty out and a mess. I like the idea of a semi-hard case on back to collect leaves that can slide or clip off. Got to be a better way? Weight is not really a issue since it is self-propelled (crazy to not get selfP).

But it takes 10min to actually remove the bag, clean it out and replace. I drive it to the woods, open the back then reach in and pull out the leaves, drive it a bit and repeat, this works OK but for sure the place for improvement is the Bag. So my suggestions for DR to make this a 10 out of 10: -improve the Bag - some kind of slide off, semi-hard shell -ADD the Briggs & Stratton 693617 Dipstick! $13 -ADD optional - front light rake that can be added and adjusted down to snot to kick up nuts and debri in grass.

I have 50 some odd white pines on my property, some standing over 100 feet tall. It's hard to describe what happens to my yard every fall. Needles and pine cones cover every inch of the landscape. Raking gave way to a small yard vac several years ago, but lack of power forced me to do numerous passes over the same areas to get up all the debris. Last year I bought the 11.50 Walk-Behind DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. It is truly miraculous how quickly and efficiently this machine cleans my yard. I was done with fall cleanup in record time and without any accompanying aches and aggravation.

This machine is superior to anything I've seen anywhere. Powerful, easy to handle, a snap to empty and built to last. Almost immediately the hose developed many holes in the seams. The replacement hose is heavier and works fine.

The safety switches are too difficult to engage and required small blocks of wood taped to them to avoid vibrations causing the engine to shut down. Also damp leaves seem to clog the hose a little to frequently. I would recommend that the clips which hold the bag on do not have the spring loaded closure because it makes it a little frustrating to mount the bag.

The engine is excellent and starts first time/everytime even at the beginning of the season. The walk behind leaf vac with electric starting does indeed have a recoil starter, integral with the engine, which can be used as an alternative to the electric starter. There is nothing special about the battery used in this application. In extremely hot or cold storage conditions, it may be advisable to remove the battery and store it in a more climate controlled environment. The electrical connections are the 'push on' type which would make that very convenient. For my own equipment, I prefer to mount battery maintainers on the devices that have long idle cycles. I found that keeping the batteries charged and cycled doubles the battery life on average.

Battery life varies considerably due to a host of factors, but with maintainers, I generally get about six years in South Central Pennsylvania. No tools are needed to attach the optional vacuum hose to the Self-Propelled Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. Just a few simple steps. Unscrew the hand knobs on the housing and remove the vacuum snout from the machine. Place a vacuum adapter onto the front housing so that a bracket on the adapter pushes a safety switch 'in' and re-install the hand knobs to secure the vacuum adapter. Then secure one end of the hose onto the vacuum adapter with a hose clamp. The optional vacuum hose is now connected to the machine!

The Leaf and Lawn Vacuum has an upper and lower handlebar that are connected by bolts and locknuts. For minimal storage, you can unhook the collection bag, shift rod lever and throttle control, loosen the bolts and locknuts and fold the handlebars. Thanks for your interest in our DR Self-Propelled Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. Unfortunately it is not recommended to use this vacuum to try and remove dirt or sand. It is OK if a little bit is vacuumed up when using the machine to clear your lawn of cut grass, leaves, etc. However if too much dirt and sand is run through this machine, over time it will cause damage. With the velocity that sand and dirt particles are moving when sucked up by this machine, it will slowly wear down the metal housing around the impeller along with other components.

Again though, a little bit of dirt or sand through normal use is ok and should not harm the machine but best to be avoided where possible. The more dusty the surface you are vacuuming, the more dust will be collected in the bag. The bag is vented so air can escape however it retains dust particles quite well. The most dust you are going to experience is when dumping the bag rather than while operating the machine. I am able to store nicely during off season (summer) by removing the snout and 2 bolts in handle to fold it up. Stores in a nice box area about about 36' high, 24' wide, 30' length. I made a picture/schematic of this unit.

See my review post since it not allow me to add pictures here - but look at reviews I added one with a drawing w/ key dimensions. Top of Upper Handle to ground: 38' Top of Discharge tube to groud: 36' Top of Engine to ground: 29.5' Width of Handle: 23.5' Width of rear wheels (max machine width w/out snout): 24' Width of Snout: 25' Length of front wheel to rear wheel: 28' Overall machine width in use, back of handle to front of snout:70' Overall machine width in use, snout: 25' Overall machine max width in use, shift rod to throttle: 28' Overall machine height in use, top of handle: 38'. Will work fine. Just need to go slower and have it adjusted all the way up. I have done my woods with 12' deep+ leaves easily. I leave the back of back OPEN so it just mulches and blows them out the back. I very heavy areas I only go over HALF the Snout width so it also pulls in plenty of air to prevent clogging.

Also I often lift the front, move in to pile, let it down and reverse if needed to get at a huge pile or deep section. So it will work fine on 6', just a matter of how fast you go. And if dry will work best.

But works fine if wet on bottom, just not mulch as well. I will also go over same area more than once to get a finer mulch.

This thing works great! I have spoken with our head of product testing about this and he informed me that he has tested our leaf vac's on walnuts. His recommendation is that the best way to clean them up is with our tow behind model using the vacuum hose attachment. He said the walk behind leaf vac snout will mostly roll them forward in front of it due to the large size of the walnuts. If you raise the operating height to where it will go over them, it will pick up a lot of them however being so far off the ground, it loses some suction capability. Those that are not picked up have a chance of being run over by the wheels and pushed into the ground. Using the vacuum hose attachment with the walk behind will work as well however it might struggle due to the size and weight of the walnuts.

Using a tow behind model will easily suck up any that it mows over however the wheels will drive a lot of them into the ground and make the machine unable to pick those up. Using the vacuum hose attachment with the tow behind does the job very well! There is plenty of power to suck them up and you don't have to worry about driving some into the ground.

You can expect a lot of noise though as the impeller will grind them up into small pieces about a cubic centimeter or smaller before they are discharged into the collector box. It is not recommended that you use a plastic bag in the collection bag, as it will block the airflow and affect the suction. To empty the collection bag, leave the bag in position between the handles, unzip the back flap and let the debris fall out into a bag or onto a tarp. You can also completely remove the collection bag by removing the straps on the bag from the hooks on the machine.

There are many variables that can affect the Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum's ability to pick up material. It has 3 forward speeds and a reverse. For pine cones and other matted down debris, you would want to use the vacuum in first gear. The vacuum also offers height adjustments from 5/8' to 4', the lower the height the better for pine cones, needles, twigs and wet leaves.

The higher the height, better for thick, dry leaves. If trying to pick up pine cones, pine needles or other materials from your lawn that hasn't been recently cut, it will be harder for the machine to vacuum these materials up. The material gets a little more imbedded because of the taller grass.

The snout should ride above the layer of debris to allow proper vacuuming. The Walk Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum has 3 forward speeds, a reverse and one size of intake nozzle, which is 25' wide. The Vacuum offers height adjustments from 5/8' to 4', the lower the height the better for nuts, acorns and wet leaves. The higher the height, better for thick, dry leaves. It will be easier to vacuum if the lawn has recently been cut and the gumballs are not imbedded. The rate of speed will also affect the vacuum's ability to draw up the gumballs.

We recommend using 1st gear and if the vacuum doesn't clean them up relatively well on the first pass, a second pass may be needed. The standard intake nozzle on the vacuum does a great job but we also offer an optional vacuum hose. This hose is 6' in diameter and 8' long and offers an even more concentrated suction for picking up nuts and acorns and is great for those hard-to-reach areas. Please Note:.
